Have you gotten a clogged pore or dry skin because of the change in weather? Did you have a drink with some friends and end up forgetting that you had put on your clay mask earlier? Here are a few tips to help avoid these problems and make sure your mask stays on for as long as possible.
First, put on your clay mask before the weather changes. Make sure the outside is nice and dry- if it’s not, take care of it first. Also, make sure that there is no excess product leftover around the edges or over half of your face. If this happens, carefully press the product into your face until it’s smooth again.

Second, make sure you’re not taking a long time to put on your mask. Tightly pat your face dry before applying the mask and make sure you don’t forget any areas. When applying the clay mask, be careful not to press too hard against your skin or cause any damage.
Third, take it off after a maximum of 15 minutes. I know that many people are probably doing longer than that, but I promise that it’s better for your skin if you only leave the mask on for this amount of time and then wash it off. This is because too much oxygen can cause the clay in your mask to harden and change its texture (that means it will stop being smooth).
#1 How To Use a Clay Mask
- Apply the clay mask under your nose and eyes to prevent it from falling off.
2. Apply a thin second layer for better absorption.
3. After 15 minutes, wash off the clay mask with lukewarm water and clean the skin with an appropriate cleanser (depending on skin type).
#2 How To Make Clay Mask At Home?
You can purchase your own clay mask, but I know there are many people who would prefer to make it at home
Here is a recipe I recommend using:
- Full Cream Milk Powder- 1/4 Cup
- Turmeric Powder- 1/4 Cup
- Fresh White Clay Powder- 1/4 Cup (you can find this in any Korean Traditional Market)
After mixing all the ingredients, refer to the instructions above on how to apply it and how long to leave the mask on for! Be sure to take caution and follow instructions when mixing ingredients, since turmeric powder and clay powder don’t taste good if accidentally eaten.

#3 Benefits Of Using Clay Mask
- Clay mask deeply cleans your pores and removes dead skin cells.
- It helps remove excess oiliness on your skin, which helps prevent acne and other types of skin problems.
- The clay mask has antibacterial properties, which can help prevent breakouts as well as soothe itchiness caused by dryness or irritations.
- Clay mask helps moisturize and soften the skin, leaving it smoother, softer and clearer looking (matching with the ingredients in the mask).
- Clay masks can help the blood circulation in your face, leaving you more radiant.
- A clay mask helps tighten your pores to prevent dirt and oils from getting into it and skin from becoming dull and dry.
- It is gentle on the skin and great for sensitive skin types.
- They are water-soluble, so after washing off your mask, the whole mixture can go down the drain.
- Clay masks are a great DIY project and can be made by anyone. Clay masks can be made in large amounts and then stored in airtight jars for later use.
- One of the beautiful benefits of clay masks is that they can be used at least two to three times a week, depending on how dry your skin is (a bit more if it’s really dry)! Also, if you have oily skin you may only need to use it once a week or less.
